The OnePlus 3T was the best budget flagship smartphone of 2016 and now rumors says that OnePlus is all set to launch there another flagship product the OnePlus 5. Based on many rumors and leaks people say that the other phone would be OnePlus-4 but due to the reason that number four is considered to be unlucky in China due to its association with death, company has named it OnePlus-5.
Coming to the phone’s specifications rumors and teasers show that OnePlus-5 would be offering a 5.5 inch AMOLED display with either FHD or QHD resolution, some reports claim that the phone display would be curved on the sides as of SAMSUNG GALAXY S8.
The one thing which is surprisingly confirmed that OnePlus-5 would be using the QUALCOMM latest flagship processor the SNAPDRAGON-835 as said by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau:
With the OnePlus 5, our commitment to this philosophy continues. We’re proud to announce the OnePlus 5 will feature the Snapdragon 835 processor, which sets the foundation for smooth, powerful, and efficient performance. With graphically-demanding apps, for example, you’ll notice how fast they load and how well they run.
According to leaks from China OnePlus-5 will be sharing 6 GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and in later months a new variant with 8 GB of RAM and 256 Gb of storage can also be seen.
Another leak says that OnePlus-5 would be offering smaller 3,300 mAh battery than its predecessor OnePlus-3T which was sporting larger 3,400 mAh battery. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said a few days ago that the OnePlus-5 will be even lighter than its predecessor, featuring a smaller footprint. Due to latest energy efficient flagship processor, the SNAPDRAGON-835 battery would not be the issue.
OnePlus-5 is also expected to feature a dual-camera setup on the back, which would be positioned horizontally, and not vertically as previously rumored. OnePlus has recently claimed that it had teamed up with DxO, the company behind DxOMark, to “enhance your photography experience” on the OnePlus-5. DxOMark is the benchmark for camera and lens image quality measurements and ratings.
The OnePlus-5 headphone jack is the biggest unanswered question because the company co-founder Carl Pei recently conducted a poll on Twitter regarding the headphone jack but the question is still unanswered.
Coming to the software side OnePlus-5 will be running the latest Android Nougat with its own custom skin OXYGEN-OS. It doesn’t change the look and feel of Android too much but does add a bunch of customization options as well as “Shelf”, which offers quick access to recent contacts, and frequently used apps, among other things.
Design wise rumors and leaks show that the OnePlus-5 would be having a metal built with a minimalistic design just like its predecessor the OnePlus-3T.
These are all the rumors regarding the OnePlus 5 we have come across so far. We’ll update this page as soon as we hear more.
